The Survivors’ Secretariat welcomed the Community and invited guests to a Year in Review open house which included the introduction of Laura Arndt as the Secretariat Lead, “I am honoured and humbled to join the Survivors’ Secretariat and lead the work of truth finding into what happened at the Mohawk Institute.”
City of Brantford unveils full bus wrap to honour Indigenous Peoples
Together with representatives and members of the Survivors’ Secretariat, the City of Brantford was proud to unveil an Indigenous Peoples themed full bus wrap to acknowledge and honour Indigenous communities in our region.
Survivors welcome community in Mohawk Village Memorial Park for a commemorative apple tree planting event and press conference
The Survivors’ Secretariat hosted a commemorative apple tree planting event and press conference with youth from the Everlasting Tree for the Mohawk Village Memorial Park. In memory of the children who did not return home.
City of Brantford calls on federal and provincial governments and the Anglican church to release Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School records
At their Special Council meeting held Tuesday, May 17, 2022 Brantford City Council unanimously supported a Notice of Motion that calls on the federal and provincial governments, and the Anglican church to respectfully release to the Survivors’ Secretariat immediately, all documents in the possession of the Government of Canada or the Government of Ontario or the Anglican church related to the former Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School now located on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, within the geographic boundaries of the City of Brantford.

The Survivors’ Secretariat has been working with the Joint Task Force to organize a complete search on the Grounds of the Former Mohawk Institute Residential School.
